New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Karman line - the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space. As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers you will Work closely with engineering design, production, and company leadership to support all manufacturing efforts and equipment related to building various New Shepard spaceflight systems. This includes leading the development of manufacturing bill of material, work instruction, design for manufacturability, non-conformance disposition & processing, and process specification. Conduct DFMA and PFMEA studies to strengthen the feedback loop between design, build, and test and accelerate the pace of crew capsule build and development. In this role you will provide manufacturing direction on the fabrication of composite parts We are looking for someone to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills, and commitment to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight. Passion for our mission and vision is required! Special Mentions Relocation provided. Travel expected up to 50% of the time (Seattle and California) Shifts available: Weekdays Monday- Friday . Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define manufacturing processes for composites fabrication, inspection, trimming, and assembly. Closely manage quality, build sequence, and schedule of hardware throughout the entire manufacturing process. Perform engineering drawing review and provide final approval for manufacturing. Define and support repair and rework activities. Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances and escapes are identified and deploy corrective actions. Craft accurate material handling and packaging to protect hardware. Manage hardware configuration and maintain pedigree. Prioritize hardware procurement and fabrication and communicate these priorities to the team. Extreme customer focus combined with strong verbal and written communication. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree or higher in mechanical, aerospace, or industrial engineering or other relevant field Any years of direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience. Hardware manufacturing experience with composite parts. Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including solid understanding of GD&T. A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances. Project management skills and strong coordination to track, manage, and prioritize multiple simultaneous tasks. Strong written, personal, technical, and software skills (CAD, Scheduling, Issue Tracking, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc). Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Ability to develop processes to industry quality systems such as AS9100. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
