MATERIAL LIBRARY ASSISTANT | ONSITE IN SEATTLE, WA Pay: $28 - $30/hrDOE 12-MONTH CONTRACT We are seeking a perceptive and focused Material Library Assistant for a short-term, project-based role aimed at establishing our Material Library and its associated systems. This position involves meticulous handling of electronic data and physical materials, as well as the proactive pursuit of information both internally and externally. The ideal candidate will efficiently manage multiple tasks, including setting up library systems and addressing the backlog of information to bring our library up to date. While the role requires a significant amount of routine data entry and organizational tasks, we highly value candidates who have experience in library management and can offer suggestions and recommendations for system improvements. Your contributions will be crucial in laying the foundation for a well-organized and functional Material Library that supports our ongoing operations. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop and maintain a comprehensive library of textile materials, ensuring it includes up-to-date technical specifications, testing data, and version control throughout the product development process. Efficiently manage the intake and organization of new materials, both electronically and physically, including data entry, labeling, and storage. Serve as the primary liaison with vendors to communicate requirements for Technical Data Sheets, Shipping SOPs, RSL, and retrieve the latest material catalogs, test reports, SDS, MSDS, and other pertinent information. Oversee the distribution and version control of development textiles, ensuring all cross-functional partners have access to the most current information. Request, coordinate, and verify sample materials from vendors for sampling and prototyping, managing their distribution to various locations. Maintain the digital library database with accurate material information, create internal part numbers, and organize material folders. Uphold the physical librarys organization by preparing material swatches, creating labels and headers, and ordering supplies needed for library maintenance. Conduct research to identify potential new sources for high-quality materials and samples, share with SG Engineering team for alignment and selection. Maintain the digital and physical library organization, including data entry, labeling, and storage of materials. Negotiate to secure the best terms and timely delivery of innovative materials. Actively source and acquire new materials and samples to enrich our Material Library, ensuring a diverse and comprehensive collection that supports our product development goals. Conduct research to identify potential new sources for high-quality materials and samples. Request, coordinate, and verify sample materials from vendors for sampling and prototyping, managing their distribution to various locations. Oversee the distribution and version control of development textiles, ensuring all cross-functional partners have access to the most current information. QUALIFICATIONS: Strong organizational skills. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficient in Google Suite and digital file management. Basic understanding of fabrics and material categories.
