Blue Origin LLC Mechanical Engineer Early Career - New Glenn in Seattle, Washington

This role supports the development and operations of New Glenn, a single-configuration, heavy-lift orbital launch vehicle capable of routinely carrying people and payloads to low-Earth orbit, geostationary transfer orbit, cislunar, and beyond. Its first stage is fully reusable, and the vehicle was designed from the beginning to be human-capable. As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, specialists, and technicians, you will design various mechanical systems for New Glenn's 1st stage reusable booster, including flight control actuators, landing gear, separation mechanisms, or hydraulic power systems. You will share in the team's impact on all aspects of the product lifecycle. You will develop conceptual designs, conduct trade studies, and participate in our design review process. You will bring your designs to release maturity through detailed design, analysis, and drawing creation. You will be responsible for maintaining the schedule, plan, and budget for your hardware. You will collaborate with multi-functional, multidisciplinary teams to procure, fabricate, test, and ultimately fly the hardware you have crafted. Minimum Qualifications: B.S. degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Recent experience aerospace or equivalent type mechanical systems elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles. Candidates with different levels of experience are welcome to apply. Strong mechanical design and integration skills using 3D modeling tools Highly organized and proven leader with excellent technical written and verbal communication skills Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Preferred Qualification: 2-5 years of recent aerospace or equivalent type mechanical systems elements within aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicles. 2+ years direct project management experience; including schedule, cost, risk, performance, change and configuration management, and supplier relations Experience across the full product development lifecycle: concept definition, architecture, requirements capture and development, implementation, verification, system integration, qualification, and release Experience in primary flight control actuator design Experience in aerospace hydraulic system component design or system architecture design Experience in aerospace deployable devices craft such as doors, landing gear or sensors Experience in spacecraft separation systems design Experience in Creo (Pro-E) and Windchill PLM Experience in structural FEA using ANSYS, NASTRAN or similar tools.
