Metro Transit Security Training Specialist - Full Time

Location: Seattle, WA

Rate: $29.00/HR

Position Responsibilities:

  • Trains new and current members of the Metro Transit Security staff

  • Ensures all members of the Metro Transit Security staff complies with the Standards and Training requirements stipulated in the contractual agreement between Securitas and the client

  • Plans, oversees, coordinates, and implements Metro Transit Security's Training Program

  • Assists Transit Security management in identifying and resolving problems related to training issues

  • Creates and maintains the training department's calendar

  • Evaluate the trainees' progress through tests and examinations. Maintains records and prepares reports to evaluate performance of training activities, and to monitor progress of trainees

  • Organizes training manuals, testing and evaluation materials, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials

  • Performs various administrative work including but not limited to ordering and maintaining supplies for staff, verifying accuracy of information, researching discrepancies, and recording information

  • Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records of the work performed; prepares clear and concise reports to monitor the success of training programs; creates related written materials

  • Follows appropriate instructional procedures or methods, such as individual training, group instruction, self-study, lectures, demonstrations, simulation exercises, role playing, and computer-based training

  • Recommending and executing remedial and corrective action for policy violation or performance issues observed during training

  • Performs other training related duties as assigned by Management

  • Must be able to pass a two week Transit Security Officer training course

  • Must be physically able to complete Defensive Tactics, Use of Force and Physical Removal training

  • Must be able to achieve AVADE certification within 90 days of hire

Position Requirements:

  • 21 years of age or older

  • High School Diploma or GED Required

  • Standard computer / technology skills needed

  • Must be able to provide exceptional customer service to our clients and their guests

  • Must be responsible, accountable, objective, and have a strong work ethic

  • Must have a strong grasp of appropriate and professional verbal / written communication

  • Conflict resolution and de-escalation skills a plus

  • Customer service background preferred

  • Must be able to interact with a wide range of individuals in a professional manner

  • Must be comfortable with report writing

  • Must have a valid driver's license

  • Must be able to work any time of day

  • Must be comfortable performing multiple styles of security including but not limited to foot and vehicle patrol, CCTV monitoring, incident response, and standing posts

  • Must be comfortable working with the general public which includes the homeless and transients

  • Must be able to complete extensive hands on training, conduct safety rides on authorized vehicles or an assigned location, and report any disruptive behavior on the system or property to local law enforcement - will be working closely with local law enforcement and could be expected to provide video reviews for a variety of cases

  • Must be comfortable answering panic station calls

  • Must be comfortable providing first aid if necessary

  • Must be familiar and comfortable de-escalating situations

  • 2 years or more of security experience required
