Purchasing via installments lowers the barrier to purchase for Device customers, drives significant incremental sales and enables Amazon to sell more premium products. The Principal Product Manager will be responsible for growing the Device Installments business. This includes managing a suite of payment products, including Amazon’s own Monthly Payment product, and other third party installment products such as Affirm and credit card payment options.

The Principal Product Manager will lead initiatives to drive customer discovery and understanding of different payment options. They will work with a dedicated engineering team, as well as influence partner teams in other organizations to drive the product roadmap. Additionally, they will have business management responsibilities for Installments performance overall, and influence levers such as enrollment criteria to manage bad debt, manage profitability, and make trade-offs between different payments vehicles.

This position requires a high level of business judgment to manage a large portfolio of business, as well as experience working with technical teams to drive customer experience improvements.

A successful candidate will be highly analytical, able to work effectively in a matrixed organization, and adept at working with engineering teams at synthesizing a variety of technologies and capabilities into products and applications that customers love.

Key job responsibilities

-Manage a significant P&L, inspecting both inputs and outputs to achieve financial goals.

-Define a world-class online customer experience for Amazon devices; write working backwards docs to succinctly capture the envisioned customer benefit and functional requirements.

-Lead discussion and thinking with the highest-level stakeholders to push into testing new ideas. Lead cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time.

-Provide thought leadership with engineering on implementation.

-Role is global in nature and will work with teams in other geographies.

About the team

Our team is the technical arm of the Devices Online Sales and Marketing group. The team's charter is to build systems and programs that help customers discover, choose, purchase, and use Amazon Devices, including Amazon Echo & Alexa products, Fire Tablets, Kindle E-readers, and Fire TV products, and more.

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience

  • 10+ years of blending product and program management skills to execute strategic initiatives about process creation, standardization, and improvement experience

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with end to end product delivery

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience as a product manager or owner

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience owning technology products

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $145,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
