As a Starbucks senior project manager, business continuity you will work as a member of the Global Security & Resilience team in the Law & Corporate Affairs Department. Areas of focus include overseeing the implementation of business continuity programs and projects in North America, identifying and deploying activities that advance business resilience objectives, contributing to business continuity principles, and promoting the education and engagement of stakeholders across the organization in the business continuity lifecycle. Our objective is to increase the adoption of business continuity best practices. This includes plan development, plan exercising and plan review. You will influence and coordinate a community of stakeholders who share in enterprise resilience, creating buy-in and fostering collaboration. You will meet team milestones and provide insight on private-sector benchmarks and approaches that can be applied to Starbucks. Preferred candidates have experience implementing business continuity and resiliency programs on behalf of private sector clients and working in a geographically dispersed team environment. This position is located in Seattle.

Leveraging your previous experience, we will enable you to:

Guide – As a member of the business continuity team, work across critical value-streams to guide business continuity plan development and business resiliency best practices.

Manage – Use experience in project management to develop and monitor project and program metrics and milestones and communicate business goals and strategic priorities; work with business continuity plan owners to instill a culture of continuous improvement.

Collaborate – Work as part of a geographically distributed team with a global mandate, partnering with colleagues across the organization to understand enterprise-wide goals and objectives and explain how business continuity programs/projects support and advance these goals.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Executes the governance for the North America Business Continuity program, identifying risks and opportunities for improvement where applicable

  • Provides Resiliency/Continuity risk expertise while working with the Lines of Business and other risk partners (e.g., Enterprise Risk Management)

  • Oversees execution of the Business Continuity Lifecycle in North America to ensure it meets standard and procedure requirements and supports business and regulatory expectations

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the development of business continuity plans for critical business functions (i.e., business impact analysis, risk assessment, business continuity planning).

  • Conduct regular exercises and simulations to assess the effectiveness of business continuity plans and identify areas for improvement.

  • Support the response and recovery efforts during incidents, ensuring that appropriate actions are taken to minimize the impact on the organization's operations and reputation.

  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior management and executive leadership on the status of the business continuity program.

  • Required to perform duties outside of normal work hours based on business needs.

We’d love to hear from people with:

  • 3+ years of business continuity/business resiliency management or supply chain experience in a private sector Fortune 500 company. Strong knowledge of project management, business continuity management principles, methodologies, and best practices.

  • 3+ years of experience developing and managing programs, projects and processes. Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to effectively coordinate and collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

  • 3+ years of experience facilitating group exercises and delivering leadership presentations and experience in conducting risk assessments and business impact analyses.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and tactically to identify and mitigate potential risks.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and quickly develop innovative solutions to ensure business continuity.

  • Strong presentation and reporting skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and recommendations to diverse audiences.

  • A Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or similar professional certification in the business continuity field preferred

  • Experience in business continuity software systems as well as with O365 tools, Smartsheet and data visualization/analytics tools

*If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
