Amazon Project Portfolio Manager, Escalation Management & Prevention in Seattle, Washington

The Selling Partner Support team designs and implements policies, tools and technology innovations to protect customers. Our team is looking for a Manager, Project Portfolio Management that is business-minded, enthusiastic, and detail-oriented. This position will report to the worldwide EMP leader of Strategy, Planning, and Learning. It is a highly influential role that will serve as a role model for EMP's mission, values, and cultural norms. They will work with many business leaders across EMP and SPS to develop a strategic mechanism of processes, methods, and technologies used by project owners to analyze and collectively manage the portfolio of current or proposed projects. They will have a positive attitude that helps them thrive in an intellectually curious, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.

This job is open to candidates who can work in the Seattle or Dallas offices.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage the development and integration of standards, processes, and tools, to enhance the efficiency, effectiveness, and standardization of project management across the organization

  • Lead data analytics, resources optimization, risk management, gap analysis, continuous improvement and health reporting activities associated with the portfolio of projects

  • Serve as the project management expert for the organization and a key focal point for organization and/or cross-organizational project matters

  • Partner with project and program owners to assess risk of initiatives on business activities, develop mitigation strategies, and track progress against those initiatives

  • Contribute significantly to the organizational strategy by collaborating with other leaders to prioritize projects and changes in accordance with strategic initiatives

  • Lead and manage project management policies, guidelines, and accountabilities in accordance with governance model guidelines, standards, and practices

  • Provide project readiness assessments at each phase of the project framework/methodology, keeping senior leadership informed in a manner that facilitates timely and effective decision-making

  • Partner with other organizational leaders to identify and implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and optimize project cost

  • Drive the portfolio resource analysis during the planning cycles as input to the change request management process

Basic Qualifications

  • 4+ years of compliance program management, legal, governance, audit, risk/loss prevention, or equivalent experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent

  • Experience handling confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program requirements definition and data and metrics leveraging to drive improvements experience

  • Professional auditing qualification, or similar risk or compliance credentials

  • Experience with SQL and Excel

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
