University of Washington Medical Center – NORTHWEST – Radiology has an outstanding opportunity for a RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGIST, TRAINEE. .
WORK SCHEDULE - PER DIEM
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Produces high quality diagnostic radiographs. Is competent in the use of all radiology equipment, which includes but is not limited to: fluoroscopic, mobile and surgical equipment, as well as all relevant computer systems.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Assists the Radiologist and other physicians with a wide range of sterile procedures, assuring patient safety, comfort, and confidentiality.
Performs a variety of routine invasive and non-invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures such as myelograms, arthrograms, of gastro-intestinal and urinary tracts in a clinical setting.
Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health errors.
Performs all quality control checks as prescribed and contacts the appropriate staff in the event of a system or equipment malfunction.
Follows all departmental policies regarding Radiation safety. Maintains safety precautions with regards to radiation safety. Shields patients accordingly.
Screens all patients for contrast contraindications prior to exam. Questions patient regarding history, allergies, and pregnancy, etc.
Appropriately selects equipment, settings and adjusts the equipment to optimize the image for diagnostic purposes as described by UWMC protocols.
Exercises independent judgment and tailors the examination relative to the patient clinical presentation and pathophysiological state.
Understands and practices proper use of all equipment and operates equipment consistent with manufacturer’s instruction.
Practices proper room set-up and clean up for all diagnostic procedures. Washes hands before each patient contact and uses aseptic technique as necessary.
Ability to troubleshoot minor problems with the radiology equipment.
Performs work accurately and quickly even during times of peak workload.
Evaluates radiographs for technical and positional quality.
Performs proper use of the CR and DR systems to include image acquisition, transferring, saving, and retrieval of PACS images.
Determines most suitable anatomical posture and positions.
