Seattle Children's Research Technician II in Seattle, Washington

Responsibilities:

The Grill Lab (https://www.seattlechildrens.org/research/centers-programs/integrative-brain-research/our-labs/grill-lab/) at Seattle Children’s Research Institute is seeking a Research Technician II. The Grill lab is a growing research environment with an enthusiastic, positive scientific climate. This position will focus principally on using the C. elegans model to examine how genetic changes and pharmacological treatments affect behavior. CRISPR gene editing will be used to profile the genetic basis of neurodevelopmental disorders and opioid drug responses. 1-5 years of prior research experience is valued. The successful candidate will report directly to Dr. Grill and will be trained by and work with members of the Grill lab research team. The ideal candidate will have a driving sense of scientific curiosity and an active interest in scientific research. The candidate's work will have the potential to contribute to scientific research publications.

Job duties will include: 1) CRISPR gene editing, 2) working with C. elegans (non-parasitic nematode), 3) PCR based genotyping, 4) generation of transgenic C. elegans, 5) using automated behavioral assays to evaluate how CRISPR edits affect gene function, 6) evaluating small molecule effects on engineered transgenic animal platforms, 7) a portion of time on lab operations support.

Requirements:

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, microbiology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or related field.

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a laboratory/research setting and/or experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.

Preferred:

  • Data entry and/or word processing experience.

  • Experience in analyzing data using spreadsheets and statistical analysis.

  • Research experience with HPLC and/or epithelial cell culture techniques helpful.

Min to Max Hourly Salary: $21.94 - $32.90 /hr

Min to Max Annual Salary: $45,635.20 - $68,432.00 /yr

Salary Information:

This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

Seattle Children’s offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
