Amazon Senior Financial Analyst, Data Center Finance in Seattle, Washington

As a Senior Financial Analyst in the Data Center Finance team, you will be a key partner to partner to the business in the sourcing and construction of Data Center Expansion, in alignment with our growth strategy while ensuring we meet the Company's obligations under the Climate Pledge. The selected candidate will be expected to ruthlessly identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency of the finance function. Given the pace of growth, emerging data automation and uncertainty around carbon and water accounting methodologies, attention to detail and tolerance for ambiguity are a must.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with various business units across Amazon.

  • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, with proficiency in using data systems and tools to conduct efficient analyses.

  • Self-starter with a keen attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced often ambiguous environment.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills, navigating across competing priorities to meet deadlines and proactively communicate conflicts.

Key job responsibilities

  • Advanced Excel Modeling - Knowledge of Pivot Tables, SQL, Power BI, advanced formulas and formatting are critical. Prior experience building robust assumptions driven analyses required.

  • Establish and manage Finance benchmarking and dashboard activities ensuring current plan and most recent actuals are always available with key insights identified.

  • Drive the development and implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the finance function, ensuring consistent financial policies, procedures, and internal controls are in place and documented.

  • Leverage financial systems such as Cognos/TM1, OFA, Alteryx, Blueprint, and others to conduct deep-dive analysis and summarize results in response to leadership needs.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, economics, or a related analytical field (e.g., engineering, math, computer science), or Bachelor's degree and 3+ years of quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance) experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects in your team to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • MBA, or CPA

  • Knowledge of Tableau

  • Experience with advanced use of SQL for data mining and business intelligence

  • 3+ years of identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize or simplify finance or business tools and processes experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $60,200/year in our lowest geographic market up to $128,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
