Providence St. Joseph Health Senior Security Officer K-9 Handler in Seattle, Washington
Description The Senior Security Officer K9 Handler performs a variety of duties and tasks related to customer service and maintaining a secure and orderly environment and protection of Swedish property and facilities, patients, visitors, and caregivers. The K9 Officer works in tandem with a canine partner. The K-9 Team regularly patrols hospital property, screens visitors and performs other activities relating to the safety and security of staff, patients and visitors. The K-9 Team protects hospital property, employees, patients and visitors against theft, vandalism, aggressive individuals and other illegal or unauthorized activities. The K-9 Team is responsible for 24-hour on-call response where their presence is likely to aid in a favorable resolution. The K-9 Officer maintains 24-hour responsibility for their canine partner ensuring a healthy environment at work and home, inclusive of proper feeding, bathing, grooming, social activities, exercise, training, regular physical inspections, medical care and the like. The K-9 Team participates in regularly scheduled training programs and exercises designed to improve the proficiency of the handler and dog and accustom the canine to react and perform in various situations and environments. The K-9 Team may participate in joint K-9 events and activities in conjunction with local police and other external agencies. May occasionally work as relief lead for a shift. Required Qualifications: Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of TASER/AXON Training and Certification Within 90 days of hire: Successful completion of AVADE/HDTS (Healthcare Defensive Tactics System) Training and Certification 3 years related civilian or military security/law enforcement experience including at least two years in healthcare security. Preferred Qualifications: Associate's Degree or AA or equivalent. Upon request: Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) ICS 100.HCB; ICS 200.HCA; and 700.A certification Upon hire: Provider Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - American Heart Association K9 Handler training and experience Why Join Providence?
