Amazon Senior Software Engineer, AWS Proactive Security in Seattle, Washington

The AWS Application Security Team is looking for a curious and motivated engineer and leader to build great workflows and backend engines for our customers. We own protecting customers and hardening all the services and features we launch for those customers. You will be responsible building tooling that AWS product teams use to build secure code in partnership with AWS Security Engineers and Product Teams.

A Software Engineer must produce results in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge, and foster constructive dialogue and seek resolution when confronted with disagreement. They are also expected to mentor more junior engineers and be security through leader for their organization. Amazon’s Leadership Principles of “Dive Deep”, “Earn Trust”, and “Customer Obsession” will be called upon daily, so a successful candidate will need a combination of technical and communication skills, as well as the ability to handle a mix of complex decisions while keeping customer security first!

Key job responsibilities

  • Design and build first party security applications for the AWS Proactive Security Program

  • Provide software development expertise in support of AWS Security

  • Directly represent the team to business leader and technical staff at all levels of the company

  • Demonstrate “exceptional” judgment, integrity, business acumen, and communication skills.

  • Prepare and present detailed, written technical information for internal and external audiences.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
