Blue Origin LLC Senior Software Engineer - Front End, Backend, or Full Stack - Lunar Permanence in Seattle, Washington

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We're working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! Are you interested in building next-gen spacecraft design and operations software? Do you dream of user interfaces like those in The Martian, Interstellar, or Minority Report? Do you love the occasional Taco Tuesday or karaoke session? If you enjoy playing computer games such as Kerbal Space Program, Oxygen Not Included, and Factorio, you might be who we are looking for! We are assembling a team of highly skilled and resourceful developers who are eager to roll up their sleeves and contribute directly to the future of spacecraft design and operation. We build awesome products in a collaborative think-tank-style environment and seek teammates who will enrich us not just technically, but also socially and culturally. We have several openings for software engineers on the Lunar Apps team, which supports engineers developing Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building a sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. That goal begins with the design of next-gen spacecraft. The Lunar Apps team is responsible for developing innovative products that accelerate aerospace engineering and push the boundaries of what can be achieved with small teams working on complex systems. If a majority of the items in this list resonate with you, we encourage you to apply: You have significant (7+ years) experience delivering high-quality products and features as quickly as humanly possible. You have delivered more than two products to active users, beginning them from scratch. You have experience gathering requirements and developing user stories for the features you plan on developing. You pride yourself on the quality of your code, which is readable, commented, tested, and complies with standard best practices. You have made more than a few architectural or technical mistakes in your career and not only have learned from them but use them as teaching opportunities for other developers. If you're backend - you know your Python. If you're frontend - you know your ReactJS/Typescript. People have told you: "that can't be done", and you have proved them wrong. You thrive in fast-paced collaborative teams with ever-shifting priorities (and opportunities). You genuinely enjoy learning and teaching new technologies and skills. You are not put off by needing to jump in with low-level tasks. You are generally the owner of the products or features you implement. We are looking for highly talented and passionate individuals and are willing to adjust the level and compensation to match the value brought to our team. We prefer candidates located within commuting distance to our Renton, WA and Denver, CO offices. We have multiple openings available. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Participating deeply in all aspects of the software development lifecycle, including planning, designing, documenting, implementing, testing, deploying, and maintaining complex software architectures and features Collaborating with system engineers and other stakeholders to define software requirements and user stories Participating in architecture and design discussions Implementing and optimizing software for performance, scalability, and portability across different deployment environments Writing and maintaining technical documentation, including requirements, design documents, and API references Conducting
