Amazon Software Development Engineer (ATA) in Seattle, Washington

Amazon Software Development Engineers should be passionate about creating new products, features, and services from scratch while managing ambiguity moving at the pace of a company where development cycles are typically weeks, not years. SDEs are found throughout most organizations within Amazon. This means you would work anywhere from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Alexa to the technology teams that support the World-Wide Operations Network.

Under the supervision of senior developers, you’ll get to learn, grow, and work as a team to:

  • Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to design and bring innovative products and services to market.

  • Design and build innovative technologies in distributed computing environment in partnership with senior developers.

  • Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems with exposure to innovative technologies.

  • Support with building distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.

  • Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.

  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Completed or on track to complete an Amazon Technical Academy approved training program

  • Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C#, including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis

  • Experience developing on Unix/Linux

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices

  • Strong focus on clean code and robust design

  • Strong problem solving, debugging and troubleshooting skills

The pay for this position in Colorado is $123,500. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on payment and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. The pay for this position in Jersey City is $123,500/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A sign-on bonus and restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered. This information is provided per the Pay Transparency Regulation of Jersey City Municipal Code. Base pay information is based on market location. Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $99,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $200,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
