Amazon Sr Business Development Manager, Strategic Capital, Growth Accelerator in Seattle, Washington

As a part of Undiscovered and Small Business Accelerator (USBA), Amazon has committed $150 million to empower Black entrepreneurs through the Black Business Accelerator (BBA), which provides access to educational, financial and advisory resources that support Black-owned business owners succeed as sellers in Amazon’s store. We seek a Sr. Business Development Manager who is able to apply their customer obsession and strategic partnership acumen to solve capital challenges faced by Black-owned and small businesses. Your work will be anchored in increasing pathways towards financial inclusions and enabling the success and sustainable growth for underserved businesses in Amazon's store. This requires the candidate to align top-level strategic objectives, goals, and metrics through deep knowledge of financial inclusion, underserved business owners, thought leadership, and influence to drive resource investments and deliverables across teams that will ultimately amplify business growth of all undiscovered and small businesses.

The ideal candidate is self-motivated, well-organized, highly collaborative, embraces ambiguity, and holds a high bar for the overall seller experience. The candidate will think big and think strategically to deliver new ideas and creative initiatives to continuously enhance offerings (access to capital, business mentorship, ecommerce management, peak readiness, etc.). Additionally, this candidate will identify gaps and opportunities, develop proposals, and partner with both internal and external stakeholders to create revenue-generating improvements rooted in data and ROI.

Key job responsibilities

  • Look around corners to spot emerging issues and proactively lead the development and execution of new financial inclusion opportunities

  • Drive cross-functional alignment to achieve strategic objectives

  • Build initiatives/incentives that work backwards from challenges and pain points that Selling Partners face when accessing capital

  • Influence and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including banks, CDFIs, investors, and other financial partners to accelerate Selling Partner growth in Amazon's store

  • Build and scale partnerships with leaders in the financial, capital, business mentorship, and ecommerce space

  • Engage strategic partners to both discover/recruit high-potential businesses, and unlock access to capital for existing USBA selling partners

About the team

Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator (BBA) supports Black-owned businesses to build sustainable growth by explicitly targeting barriers to access, opportunity, and advancement created by societal and historical imbalances. The program helps Black business owners grow their business with access to financial support, strategic business guidance, mentorship, and marketing and promotional support.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional or military experience

  • Experience structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional groups to orchestrate and successfully complete deals

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units

  • Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps

  • Experience in financial inclusion and working with underserved communities

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $213,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
