Amazon Business Flywheel Inputs Science and Analytics team is looking for an experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to excel at pricing, selection, forecast and optimization data solution. Amazon Business (AB) represents an incredible opportunity to address a vast new market segment and customer base for Amazon. The Amazon Business Flywheel Inputs Science team owns the science and analytics for key AB problems including price setting, selection additions and operations optimization. The ideal candidate will have outstanding leadership skills, proven ability to develop, enhance, automate, and manage tech and data solutions from end to end. The ideal candidate will have data mining and data modeling skills and will be comfortable facilitating idea creation and working from concept through to execution. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated ability to manage the medium to large scale automation and data modeling projects, identify requirements and build methodology and tools that are technically grounded but also explainable operationally, apply technical skills allowing the solution to adapt to changing attributes.

A day in the life

You will build the data solutions and the supporting structures needed to analyze, dive deep, and innovate the pricing strategies. You will also have the opportunity to present findings to cross functional team partners to drive improvements. You will work closely with other Applied/Research/Data Scientists, Economists, Data Engineers, Software Development Engineers, Program Managers and Business Partners to solve challenging problems. You will be expected to provide clear and concise explanation to results and approaches as well as provide opinion and guidance on problem solving.

The Amazon Business Science team owns the science and analytics for key AB problems including price setting and selection additions.

Basic Qualifications

  • Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

  • 5+ years of SQL experience

  • Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

  • Experience with theory and practice of design of experiments and statistical analysis of results

  • Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills.

  • Experience with theory and practice of information retrieval, data science, machine learning and data mining

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with business stakeholders to translate between data and business needs

  • Experience managing, analyzing and communicating results to senior leadership

  • Knowledge of data warehousing and data modeling

  • Experience using Cloud Storage and Computing technologies such as AWS Redshift, S3, Hadoop, etc.

  • Experience building measures and metrics, and developing reporting solutions

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $117,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $202,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
