Amazon Sr. Product Manager - Technical, Outbound in Seattle, Washington

We're looking for a technical product leader to help us usher Amazon's communications and marketing into the future. Our team, Outbound Communication, is responsible for the transmission of messages to all of Amazon's customers over Email, SMS, Push, and emerging communication channels. We own and operate critical services that deliver over 350 million messages a day.

Our goal is to delight Amazon customers worldwide with inspiring content and help them fulfill their shopping missions. We do this by driving awareness and discovery of Amazon’s products and services. We meet customers at their preferred communication channel(s) with the most relevant content, at the right time and frequency.

In this role, you will be expected to set and deliver a vision for the next generation of communication products. You will be immersed in Amazon's AI and Analytics capabilities, and collaborate with talented software engineers, scientists, analysts, visual designers, and marketing specialists across the company.

Since we're a growing team, we're looking for someone who's a self starter; who can deal with ambiguous and fast-moving environments; who has strong product and technical leadership experience; who has delivered transformative products at worldwide scale. Great communication, and ability to clearly articulate and present your vision to senior leadership are key to his role.

This role is open to candidates in Seattle as well.

Key job responsibilities

As a product manager in Outbound, you will be responsible for:

  • Defining the vision for our automated marketing products, and working with marketing, engineering, science, and design to achieve that vision

  • Diving into data to understand areas of opportunity, defects, and customer needs

  • Owning the customer backlog and prioritizing deliverables

  • Communicating and earning trust with senior leaders and stakeholders across multiple Amazon organizations

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of end to end product delivery experience

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product

  • Experience bridging technical and business teams to collect and refine requirements, prioritize incoming work requests, and ensure all committed work is delivered on time

  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

  • Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Proven track record of building new, innovative, and engaging customer experiences informed by customer data from various sources (market research, internal data bases, A/B testing, user research)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in computer science, engineering, analytics, mathematics, statistics, IT or equivalent

  • 5+ years of experience owning and driving large scale cross-functional programs of which 3+ in a tech/software (or equivalent) role.

  • 2+ years of experience working on the B2C discovery experience (e.g. search, personalization, email/push marketing) for an online shopping service

  • Experience working with Machine Learning technology

  • Proven success in delivering technology products/services in a legacy/mature system environment, working with software engineers and scientists

  • Ability to prioritize activities in complex programs, and influence stakeholders, at times with limited direct authority

  • Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $235,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
