We are a central analytics team that owns Amazon’s insights pipeline, from data collection to deep analytics. As the Technical Program Management lead, you will work closely with stakeholders, software engineers, machine learning scientists, and product teams to deliver our most complex, high quality, and scalable products deployed around the world and across Amazon. You will collaborate with our and partner product teams to deliver the best product with the most efficient use of resources and technologies. You will work with all the stakeholders to assemble project teams, assign responsibilities, identify resource gaps, and develop work back plans to launch multiple initiatives. You will also assess risks, anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

Successful candidates will have a technical background, be detail driven, and have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) and problem-solving abilities. Successful candidates should not only be passionate about delivering extensible, on-time solutions, but also obsessed with contributing to the development of high-performance teams through rigorous goal-setting, disciplined attention to performance metrics, and continuous process improvement.

Key job responsibilities

  • Own the development and delivery of key programs across science and engineering teams

  • Lead planning, execution, and delivery of projects across multiple teams around the world

  • Own communication for technical delivery across these projects with senior leadership and partner organizations

  • Support sprint planning and reporting for our engineering and science teams, and support annual roadmapping cycles

  • Identify and develop automated, self-serve mechanisms to scale currently manual processes where relevant, and work with internal stakeholders to drive adoption

  • Support the team in developing metrics, measuring their impact, and identifying ways to improve against them

  • Thrive in working with key stakeholders in executive teams and marketing teams to define strategy and requirements, and to align on a path forward when there are complex tradeoffs

  • Communicate regularly with senior leadership on status, risks, and change control

  • Make technical concepts intuitive for non-technical audiences, especially in regards to statistics and machine learning

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • 7+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience

  • 3+ years of software development experience

  • 5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent

  • Experience managing technical programs across cross-functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

  • Professional experience with data and/or reporting tools, such as Excel, SQL, and/or Tableau

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8+ years of technical product or program management experience

  • Experience defining KPI's/SLA's used to drive multi-million dollar businesses and reporting to senior leadership

  • Experience leading highly technical programs involving infrastructure, complex systems, systems engineering

  • Experience with MLOps, including building resilient, scalable machine learning systems

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $133,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
