Amazon System Development Engineer II, Workplace Productivity/Collaboration Platform, Enterprise Engineering in Seattle, Washington

Description

Enterprise Engineering is looking for a System Development Engineer to help us with our productivity and collaboration applications on an industry leading, integrated cloud productivity suite (M365). Your team will own configuration, integrations and optimization of applications within the suite and with other products in the technical ecosystem and ensure operational excellence of the platform ongoing.

You will join a strong team of engineers across Enterprise Engineering focused on delivering a workplace productivity and collaboration platform that delights Amazon employees and enables them to work more effectively every day.

This role offers individuals excellent visibility across the entire Enterprise Engineering organization. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams, security engineers, service owners, business leaders, and program and product managers working together to establish processes from the ground up, combining superb technical, research, and analytical capabilities with a demonstrated ability to look around corners.

You will participate in security reviews, providing recommendations for feature implementation/governance including an understanding of release management working with partner teams (internal/external) like MSFT.

This role requires strong experience with System Design and Integrations, (ideally with the Microsoft ecosystem), combined with experience in security, legal and regulatory/ compliance controls required for systems and applications. Experience with PowerShell, cloud technologies, and system development are ideal.

Key job responsibilities

  • Integrate with both external/internal applications

  • Contribute to the development of new Applications/Initiatives – Participate in security reviews

  • AWS or Azure experience is a plus to deliver a secure, scalable and sustainable cloud platform.

  • General Maintenance & Enhancements – Manage day to day operational requirements, while scoping, implementing and executing instance iterations as business needs arise.

  • Keep the platform current, secure, and healthy

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)

  • Experience programming with at least one modern language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell (preferred), Python, Ruby, or Java

  • Experience working in an Agile environment using the Scrum methodology

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $116,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $201,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
