RSM US LLP Tax Manager - Real Estate in Seattle, Washington

Our Real Estate practice serves a range of clients including Real Estate Investment Trusts, Real Estate Private Equity Funds, real estate developers and family offices invested in real estate. You will also work with a wide variety of clients across multiple property types who have invested in real estate for decades as well asentrepreneurs who are just buying their first building. RSM US LLP is looking for a Tax Manager to join our expanding Investment Fund practice. Our Investment Fund practice serves a range of clients in the financial services industry including private equity funds, hedge funds, fund of funds, real estate and capital market clients.This particular role offers the opportunity to join a high-performing, high-growth team while working with complex clients in the Real Estate industry with a focus on real estate private equity funds and REIT's. Other clients also may include owner-operated real estate, property management firms, and commercial/residential real estate. As a Tax Manager for RSM, you will be responsible for the following job duties, which are focused around three core concepts: Technical & Quality Expertise, People & Talent Management, and Client Service/Business Development. Responsibilities: Provide detailed review and analysis of complex partnership returns with a focus on real estate clients Serve as a Career Advisor by providing mentorship or coaching to one or more employees, which will include providing honest and timely performance feedback Train and develop staff members Work on multiple complex issues while communicating in a non-technical manner to facilitate communication between the client and the service team while managing the risk for both the client and the firm Serve as the Tax client service coordinator for appropriate clients Advise clients on a full spectrum of corporate tax services, including planning, research, compliance, and general mergers and acquisitions activities Reviewing research findings and ensure conclusions are consistent with firm policies and professional standards Assist with new business development, extended service and tax issue recognition for existing clients Manage corporate client needs with respect to tax services and federal and state tax compliance Remain up-to-date on current tax practices and changes in tax law Other duties as assigned Some travel may be required (varies based on location, line of business and client need) Basic Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in business taxation working for a Big 4 or a large national, regional or local accounting firm Bachelor's Degree in Accounting Active CPA, Enrolled Agent or Licensed JD Prior tax compliance & consulting experience serving real estate private equity clients & REIT's Ability to work closely with clients to answer questions or to collect necessary information for tax service requirements Effective verbal and written communication skills Preferred Qualifications: Working knowledge of tax code and technical aspects of tax preparation and compliance Strong technical skills in accounting and tax preparation, industry specialization a plus Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Experience preparing or reviewing accounting for income taxes in accordance with ASC
