Part-time, 40% FTE POSITION HIGHLIGHTS Teaching Associate Part-time , 12-month (July 1-June 30) academic position on a yearly appointment and may be reappointed to subsequent annual termsBe a member of the Glycemic Control Consult Service that provides consultation to medical teams, patients and families, and nursing staffSuccessful candidate will be responsible for providing Glycemic Control Consult Services independently and collaboratively with appropriate privileges, including initial and ongoing assessment, diagnosis and treatment of patient’s medical, physical and psychosocial status PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain excellent interpersonal skills to execute the UWMC Glycemic Control Consult Service Best Practice Model
Establish a therapeutic relationship by imparting a commitment to care for the patient and family through the acute illness and beyond
Connect with the patient and family by eliciting the patient/family perspective and validating the value of that perspective using strong empathic listening skills
Provide clinical consultation in all the domains of Glycemic Control Consult Service
Patient/family/provider communication about disease and treatment and how it relates to patient values, priorities, and • Collaborate with the primary team
Contribute to the plan of care
Prescribe medications in accordance with the primary service
Order diagnostics/treatments as needed after collaboration with the primary team
Promote a collaborative approach to decision making
Participate in discharge planning meetings to identify and propose solutions for barriers to discharge REQUIREMENTS
Current and valid Washington state ARNP or PA Licensure
Graduate Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or PA-C Program. Nationally certified APP with DEA or foreign equivalent.
Proven excellence working in an interdisciplinary collaborative team environment
Effective interpersonal skills, leadership skills, and clinical expertise in the care of patients with hyperglycemia
Training and experience in Diabetes Care and inpatient Glycemic Control management preferred but not required
Certification as an Advanced Diabetes Management ARNP or PA and critical care experience preferred
