Pacific Northwest National Laboratory Team Leader - Distributed Cyber Intelligence in Seattle, Washington

Overview

The Cyber Analysis and Analytics group is searching for a team leader for the Distributed Cyber Intelligence team. This team creates and deploys infrastructure for the collection, curation, and analysis of cyber data.

Group Description : The Cyber Analysis and Analytics group creates reliable, repeatable, and robust methods for obtaining and maintaining cyber situational awareness. The team combines expertise in integrated hardware configuration and deployment for data collection, secure analytic architectures and information management, scalable data analytics for operational alerting and triage, and network vulnerability and threat analysis to create actionable insights for decision makers in critical infrastructure protection and national security. We leverage state-of-the-art infrastructure resources, like cloud technology, to rapidly solve sponsor challenges.

Team Descriptions:

  • Team Name: Distributed Cyber Intelligence

  • Team Description/Capability Description: This team is comprised of subject matter experts who have the knowledge and experience to create and deploy mission-driven hardware for government sponsors. This often requires the team to rapidly innovate by transforming a proof of concept, to a prototype, to fielding it into a production setting on an accelerated timeline.

  • Team Mix: 6 FTEs - combination of technical project managers and cyber security engineers.

  • Location/Operational Parameters: Staff in Richland and Seattle

Responsibilities

The TL is one of the most important roles in the Laboratory as this role has positive influence on staff and the important work they perform, supports a culture of excellence, and provides input into broader strategic aspects of their high performing team. The TL succeeds through meeting the following four guidelines.

  • Demonstrate strong domain expertise, foster a healthy culture of innovation and an ethical code of conduct, and steer the team technically.

  • Provide career development coaching, mentoring, and feedback to ensure team members have appropriate technical, business and operational skills, training, and experience. Promote a healthy organizational culture through a supportive and inclusive work environment.

  • Serve as a role model for quality, safety, and security performance. Maintain an understanding of the activities and work scope executed by the team and monitor changes to ensure work remains as authorized.

  • Build strong relationships with relevant PMs, PMODs, peers, upper management, and other relevant internal/external stakeholders to advocate for staff members, as well as assist team members in forming and maintaining strong professional networks.

  • Ability to provide appropriate onsite presence and oversight for safe conduct of operations of staff activities.

In accordance with Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) and Department of Energy (DOE) Order 473.1A, new employees are required to obtain and maintain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Credential. To obtain this credential, new employees must successfully complete and pass a Federal Tier 1 background check investigation. This investigation includes a declaration of illegal drug activities, including use, supply, possession, or manufacture within the last year. This includes marijuana and cannabis derivatives, which are still considered illegal under federal law, regardless of state laws.

Mandatory Requirements

Please be aware that the Department of Energy (DOE) prohibits DOE employees and contractors from having any affiliation with the foreign government of a country DOE has identified as a “country of risk” without explicit approval by DOE and Battelle.
