Amazon TechOps Program Manager, Devices and Services Design Group in Seattle, Washington

The TechOps Program Manager will be part of DDG’s Design Systems & Operations organization, supporting and managing studio-wide software, tools, and devices. This role will partner very closely with our Head of Studio Operations, Design Program Management team, and Design Technologists to operationalize, stabilize, and scale the technical operations that underscore the day-to-day efforts of the studio.

This role will be responsible for working with cross organization partners and stakeholders to define every aspect of how this program will operate including how it is measured and reported. In order to be successful, this person will need to bring along cross organization stakeholders to gain their buy-in and support for this program. The ideal candidate will exhibit leadership, high judgment, the ability to influence, and exceptional organization and communication skills. Given the technical realm in which this individual will work, historical AWS knowledge and/or certification as well as a hunger for ongoing learning is a must.

In this role, you will collaborate closely with designers, researchers, engineers, and other cross functional partners through the definition, rollout and execution of this program. You will combine expert program management skills with a passion for user experience to help teams across Devices and Services improve the designs of Amazon’s products and services. You will need to manage communications across levels and organizations within Amazon to train teams on how the program works, communicate reporting on the impact the program and manage escalations when design is at risk.

Key job responsibilities

  • Define, deploy, and manage operations of DDG's TechOps program.

  • Work across leadership to align on a single strategy and measurement for the program.

  • Drive team operations of this new program including: planning, developing and leading appropriate training and knowledge share, workflow and processes.

  • Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, and anticipate and make tradeoffs as you evolve and manage this program.

  • Implement repeatable processes and tools to help us scale, prioritize, plan and manage program operations across the studio.

  • Create, maintain, and disseminate program information and reporting to stakeholders and senior management.

  • Work across teams to create strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leadership teams across DDG.

  • Promote a sense of transparency, visibility, and community among all stakeholders.

About the team

The Amazon Devices and Services Design Group (DDG) is a multidisciplinary design team that is responsible for the UX of Echo Family Devices, Alexa Mobile, Fire TV, Fire Tablets and more. DDG’s mission is to bring to life delightful, easy-to-use, and high value experiences for our customers.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of program or project management experience

  • 3+ years of defining and implementing process improvement initiatives using data and metrics experience

  • Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements

  • Experience working cross functionally with tech and non-tech teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience

  • 3+ years of driving process improvements experience

  • Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with multiple stakeholders at varied levels of the organization

  • Experience building processes, project management, and schedules

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $66,800/year in our lowest geographic market up to $142,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
