Job Summary:
The Planning Manager will be responsible for financial management of assigned area of responsibility, including but not limited, to the creation of financial and merchandise plans, actualization of results, identifying, communicating, and implementing strategic business opportunities at the division, category, and season code levels. This position will forecast sales, markdowns, and inventory levels on a regular basis and identify risks to the business and develop action plans in cooperation with their merchandising partner to mitigate risks profitably. This position will supervise a staff of Planner(s) and be responsible for all training and development of direct reports.
Responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
Train and develop a staff of Planner(s)
Create monthly financial plans at division, category, and season code levels for fiscal time periods
Reforecast sales, markdown, and inventory for fiscal time periods at division, category, and season code levels
Create recap of end of season performance at division, category, season, and style levels for merchandise buy period
Establish financial targets at division, category, and season code levels for merchandise buy periods
Create assortment plans at style and color levels for merchandise buy periods
Perform daily, monthly, quarterly, and seasonal sales reporting
Analyze historical and current trends to identify risks or opportunities and recommend strategies to increase sales and achieve business and financial objectives
Create Monday reports and recaps used to analyze business and direct actions for current week
Complete ad hoc recaps and financial analyses as needed
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree required
5+ years of experience in retail planning and analysis
Experience in management
Skills and Behaviors:
Proven track record of financially astute business management
Expertise in retail math with strong analytical skills
Strong problem solving and decision making skills
Ability to identify and clearly communicate business opportunities and risks
Good organization and workload prioritization skills
Proficient in planning systems and Microsoft Office
