J.B. Hunt Transport Mobile Trailer Mechanic in Seymour, Indiana
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, this position acts as a subject matter expert for Mobile Technicians. The Senior is responsible for performing complex maintenance, service, and repair of J.B. Hunt trailers, containers, chassis and power equipment at a customer site or rail yard using a mobile service truck. Technicians must be able to troubleshoot, diagnose, and complete all fleet maintenance processes and ensure that units meet J.B. Hunt specifications at all times. This position has the possibility to work outdoors, in the elements, or across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
Perform complex diagnostics, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks to include, but not limited to, tire replacements/flat repairs, brake adjustments/services/replacements, electrical diagnostics, basic structural repairs on trailer chassis, sub-frames, etc
Oversee recall campaigns and sign off on completion
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair ABS system and specialized equipment including refrigerated units, lift gates, and frame alignment
Properly attend to service truck parts inventory
May onboard and mentor new Tractor Technician trainees; act as team lead to include beginning or ending shifts; delegate work to team members to see repairs to completion
Follow all safety requirements while at a customer or rail yard
Operate assigned service truck in a professional manner and according to company requirements; keep unit clean and well stocked
Accurately complete work orders and other written materials according to established procedures
Properly document damage to company equipment to allow subrogation of repair costs
Understand and demonstrate the proficient use of a cutting torch and welding equipment and perform mid-level repairs on chassis, frames, brackets, etc
Patch holes in trailer/container side panels and roofs ensuring all holes are sealed and water tight
Perform annual AA Trailer and FHWA Brake Inspections sign off

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications :
Must be 18 years of age with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
AND Demonstration of the following skills and abilities through education, certifications, military, or other experiences
Must be DOT certified in FHWA inspections and air brakes
Able to supply your own basic tools, or purchase through our toolbox purchase program
Willingness to work outdoors in the elements
Able to work across multiple shifts, including nights and/or weekends if needed
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent with 3 or more years of experience in semi-trailer maintenance and repair or equivalent combination of education and experience, or military equivalent
EPA section 608 certification and Refrigeration License
Advanced welding skills (MIG and stick)
Knowledge of ABS systems
Ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas through various mediums
Ability to manage multiple priorities
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Proficient computer skills and/or comfortable working with a computer, including Microsoft Office suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
Ability to use time and resources efficiently and effectively
Ability to fulfill physical requirements (lift/move appliance up to 50 pounds)
Ability to wear appropriate work attire (protective gear/PPE)
