Summary

The Process Engineer is responsible for the analysis, identification and resolution of continuous process issues and improvements on the production line. Perform detailed analyses to prevent potential problems with new equipment or raw materials, to identify potential savings opportunities, and to troubleshoot process issues as they arise. Lead discussions, projects, and people to full issue resolution.

Essential Duties

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • LeadtheexecutionofQualityandProcessImprovementprojectsandactivities,usingstandardPI tools such as Qualpro, MVT/DOE, Kepner Tregoe PSDM. Use the Hierarchy of values (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost) to prioritize. Plan and execute capital improvements resulting from these projects. Coordinate Plant Trials with R&D and plant personnel. Ensure trials are accurately conducted and reported.

  • Lead the process design review, raw material qualification, product and process qualification, and capability studies. Perform PPA/FMEA on all major process and raw material changes. Monitor and provide guidance for optimal raw material usage.

  • Lead the application and interpretation of SPC control charting. Utilize interpretation to identify improvement and cost-saving opportunities.

  • Assist in the development of process specifications, entering plant change notices (PCN’s), and other in-plant processes. Conduct internal compliance audits of product testing.

  • Provide production line support focusing on the machines, materials, and production employees. Help to improve efficiency in the line.

  • Participate on problem solving teams and project teams as a technical resource geared towards improving the performance of existing processes and raw material handling systems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to climb ladders and/or stairs and walk on open grating on elevated surfaces

  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

  • Must continuously have the ability to differentiate colors precisely

  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds

  • BS Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical) required

  • 1-5 years’ experience in a continuous manufacturing process environment

  • Familiar with standard Manufacturing concepts, practices & procedures i.e. the 6 building blocks Intermediate knowledge of engineering fundamentals including ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings

  • Intermediate proficiency using root cause analysis to troubleshoot and solve problems

  • Intermediate ability to translate technical data into a format/language suitable for personnel Intermediate skills in process hazard analysis and process safety management

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and various data analysis software programs

  • intermediate knowledge of manufacturing analysis tools, such as statistical analysis/statistical process control (SPC), process capability studies, lean manufacturing, 5S, Six Sigma, Kepner Tregoe, and/or Design of Experiments (DOE)

  • intermediate Communication skills: written, verbal and listening

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask

  • Excellent analytical skills including problem solving and attention to detail

  • Results oriented, high energy, credible, honest, self-motivated person

  • Familiarity with safety procedures, safe behavior observations, and OSHA compliance

Annual Salary Range: 81,000-103,500
