Sierra Nevada Corporation A&P Mechanic III - Deploy Only (Multiple positions available) in Shalimar, Florida

As an A&P Mechanic III, you will be responsible for repairs, replacement and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts. You'll perform the necessary checks in regards to the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts. You'll use a variety of tools and equipment to perform diagnosis on parts to be replaced, and ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work, all while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop. You will demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for repairs, replacement, and maintenance of the key components of aircrafts.

  • Read and work from drawings, blueprints, sketches, written procedures, planned work orders, technical work orders, and any other authorized reference material.

  • You'll perform the necessary checks regarding the mechanical and functional components of the aircraft, including the testing of and replacement of defective or faulty parts.

  • Use a variety of tools and equipment to perform diagnosis on parts to be replace.

  • Ensure repairs and maintenance are compliant with national and international standards of work.

  • Ensure consistent, accurate aircraft maintenance records by properly documenting & completing required forms, computer entries, and logbook entries.

  • You will demonstrate advanced knowledge of the main components of aviation maintenance including airframe maintenance, power plant mechanics, or Airframe & Power plant (A&P) components.

  • Remove, install and rig externally mounted components utilizing boom and scissor type lifts and/or other support equipment.

  • Required to work in small spaces inside aircraft, on top aircraft with harness, climb and stand on ladder/mobile stands to work over head, in close proximity with other individuals.

  • Maintain safety and cleanliness of the hanger or workshop.

  • This is a Deployed rotational position.

Must-haves:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent and at typically 5 or more years of relevant experience

  • A higher level degree may substitute for experience

  • Related experience may be considered in lieu of required education

  • Active, current Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations

  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work locations

  • Ability to speak, read and write in English

  • Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications

  • Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining and/or troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines

  • Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals and/or publications.

  • Strong organizational skills, self-motivation, and flexibility.

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and conflict resolution skills.

  • Experience with the practical application of aviation safety standards and safe operating practices.

  • Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.

  • Must be willing to travel CONUS off rotation to perform Training, Medical, and Certification renewals.

  • Current Active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

  • U.S. Citizen with U.S. Passport.

  • Valid Driver’s License.

  • Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command restriction requirements for deployed locations.

Preferred:

  • FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.

  • Familiarity with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFARS).

  • Experience with Ground Support Equipment (GSE).

  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense or US Military.

  • Understanding of FAA regulations, policies, and procedures (FGOP).

  • Completion of the CAE Global Training Course.

  • Previous OCONUS deployment experience in remote locations
