Chemist

Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmaceutical Chemist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in chemistry, with extensive experience in a cGMP and/or GLP chemistry lab environment. This role requires proficiency in HPLC and GC, as well as significant experience in method development and validation within a pharmaceutical lab setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine analysis of finished pharmaceutical dosages and raw materials following approved analytical methodologies and specifications.

  • Design and execute method transfer protocols and method validations; assist in writing method transfer and validation reports.

  • Design and execute cleaning validation protocols; assist in writing reports.

  • Support activities to develop analytical methods to assess the purity, potency, and stability of drug substances and finished products.

  • Conduct HPLC/GC analysis and prepare reagents and sample solutions for testing.

  • Operate laboratory analytical instrumentation and assist in troubleshooting and calibration of laboratory equipment.

  • Maintain accurate, detailed records of work performed.

  • Ensure testing adheres to schedules through a team-oriented process.

  • Serve as a backup for the laboratory supervisor.

  • Read and interpret USP, EP, JP compendial monographs, and analytical methodologies.

  • Write SOPs, laboratory protocols, reports, memos, and other interdepartmental correspondence.

  • Train and provide guidance to other personnel, becoming a subject matter expert in general and advanced laboratory practices.

  • Utilize root cause analysis tools and technical writing to complete laboratory investigations; independently conduct and document laboratory investigations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Perform analytical testing of finished dosage pharmaceutical products and raw materials using laboratory knowledge and equipment.

  • Analyze in-process, raw materials, and finished products of pharmaceuticals for quality, safety, purity, strength, and identity by conducting analysis as specified in applicable specification requirements following GLP and cGMP guidelines.

  • Serve as a mentor/lead to Chemist I, II, and III positions in areas such as equipment utilization, SOP understanding and application, and good lab documentation and practices.

  • Serve as a backup for the laboratory supervisor.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a related Science field.

  • Minimum of 8+ years of work experience with a B.S. or 6+ years of work experience with an M.S. in a cGMP and/or GLP chemistry lab environment.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in HPLC and GC.

  • Experience in method development and method validation in a pharmaceutical lab.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $51.00
