As a Volunteer Coordinator, you’ll contribute to our success in the following ways:

  • Promotes Elara Caring’s philosophy, mission statement and administrative policies to ensure quality of care.

  • Maintains patient and staff privacy and confidentiality pursuant to HIPAA Privacy Final Rule.

  • Assures that there are sufficient volunteers to consistently provide service time equal to no less than 5% of direct care hours.

  • Supervises and establishes goals and objectives with and for the volunteer program.

  • Screens, selects, evaluates, counsels an provides disciplinary actions to volunteers, to ensure these individuals meet the highest standards of personal integrity, emotional maturity, responsibility, flexibility, and sensitivity needs of the dying patient and family.

  • Assigns volunteers to meet program needs appropriate to volunteers’ interests and skills, including appropriate record keeping.

  • Documents and tracks appropriate volunteer statistical information, and volunteer program records as evidenced by evaluations and other volunteer demographic needs completed before expiration or due date.

  • Manages time in a cost-effective manner regarding the hospice reimbursement methodologies.

  • Tracks and records volunteer hours and comprise a current and accurate volunteer cost-savings report.

  • Assures volunteer recruiting is sufficient and meets set goals per agency strategic plan.

What is Required?

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • 2+ years’ experience in a healthcare or hospice environment (preferred)

  • Ability to plan, organize and supervise volunteers

  • Demonstrated problem solving, organization and attention to detail

  • Able to manage multiple priorities, documentation requirements and deadlines.

  • Previous volunteer or community coordination preferred

You will report to the Regional Director/Administrator.
