Accounting Manager

We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our Shelby team!

As our Accounting Manager you will be responsible for segments of the general accounting function either directly or through subordinate employees and colleagues. You will manage the maintenance of the organization's general ledger and accounting records of the organization. Focused on inventory and cost of sales, revenue recognition application, accrual to meet anticipated liabilities, cashflow, working capital, and other more advanced areas of the balance sheet and income statement. This position will assist with developing, planning, and completing projects to improve accuracy of reporting and profitability of the business.

Your Challenge

  • Lead and coordinate the development and delivery of financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and appropriate financial practice

  • Manage a significant portion of the organization's financial management and control processes

  • Participate in and oversee activities within the accounting department to ensure that all major projects are, and period-end financial reporting is, completed accurately and on time

  • Assist in month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial closing procedures including the performance and oversight of general accounting duties

  • Primary focus on Inventory, Cost of Sales, Revenues, and Receivables but will be impactful in all areas of accounting and financial reporting

  • Develop and update standard cost of material, labor, and overhead with input from various department leaders

  • Produce or review various production, variance, and ad hoc reports

  • Review and analyze standard and actual costs for variances

  • Prepare, analyze, and report monthly gross margin analysis by customer, part number, and production jobs

  • Responsible for preparation or oversight of account reconciliation of inventories including cycle counts

  • Prepare periodic inventory excess and obsolete reserve, analyzing inventory for risk, and monitoring with support from internal stakeholders

  • Actively participate in the annual budgeting process

  • Review, coordinate, and provide documentation to support various internal and external audit requirements

  • Review and resolve issues affecting compliance with corporate policies/guidelines, customer requirements, and underlying Federal, state and/or local regulations

  • Participate in and compile reports on a wide variety of special projects

  • Recommend changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit

  • Other accounting and finance duties as assigned

  • Report to the Business Unit Controller

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field of study, or equivalent work experience

  • CPA preferred but not required

  • 5-10 Years Work Experience preferably in a manufacturing environment or within a public accounting firm, but not required

  • Working knowledge of US GAAP and other applicable accounting principles

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel including the use of pivot tables, vlookups, and other advanced formulas

  • General proficiency in other Microsoft Office Applications

  • Advanced proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems

  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel capabilities

  • Effective presentation skills for financial information and recommendations to senior management

  • Detail oriented with an eagerness to learn and willingness to adapt
