Persico USA Mechatronics Engineer in Shelby Township, Michigan

Job purpose

  • The Mechatronics Engineer is responsible for the electromechanical design, development, improvement, and programming of manufacturing control systems at Persico USA facilities and customer locations.
  • The ideal candidate should be able to plan out and implement system controls per customer specifications and all applicable local and federal safety regulations.

Duties and responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities include below tasks and other supporting functions to accomplish the same:

  • Designing, developing, and enhancing electro-mechanical systems and mechatronic devices.
  • We are creating automated systems and the software to control them.
  • Conducting research, documenting findings, and presenting reports at meetings.
  • Developing design documents for mechanical parts and final products.
  • Identifying areas of weakness in the production line or finished products and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Understanding problems or client briefs and developing solutions that satisfy them.
  • Selecting the required tools and materials for the manufacturing process.
  • Assisting with recruitment, onboarding, and training of junior Engineers or Apprentices.
  • Attending workshops, training sessions, and conferences to network with others and stay on top of field advancements.
  • Work and coordinate activities with external suppliers/ vendors to define the most optimal software and hardware solution for process control.
  • Interface and support equipment development with customer representatives at Persico USA facilities and customer locations.
  • Must be willing to travel to customer sites for installation of new equipment and support of engineering changes implementation.
  • Use Microsoft Office Software to prepare controls documentation and communicate with internal and external customers.

Qualifications

Minimum education requirements:

High School Diploma/ Equivalency

Persico is searching to join an estimated 4-year-long apprentice relationship with an individual, committed to attending the Community College of their choosing.

Preferred Experience:

Min 3 years in a related role or Entry level engineering program graduate

Additional Skills/ Specialized Knowledge:

Ability to repair, test, adjust, or install electronic equipment, such as industrial controls, transmitters, and antennas.

Experience with integration of controls input devices

Barcode scanners and printers

Working conditions

This position requires work in an office and shop floor environment.

Physical requirements

This position requires the use of computer, electrical, and control hardware. Lifting and walking are expected within ergonomic guidelines.

Direct reports

This position reports directly to the Manager of engineering.
