Position Description

Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy infrastructure companies in North America. We own an interest in or operate approximately 83,000 miles of pipelines and 141 terminals. Our pipelines transport natural gas, gasoline, crude oil, carbon dioxide (CO2) and more. Our terminals store and handle renewable fuels, petroleum products, chemicals, vegetable oils and other products.

We believe that fuels with a lower-carbon lifecycle, like RNG(Renewable Natural Gas), are part of the solution to reduce greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. With our more than 70,000 miles of natural gas pipeline systems that transport approximately 40% of the natural gas consumed and exported in the United States, we are uniquely positioned to transport RNG from coast-to-coast without making enhancements to our existing natural gas pipeline network.

This position is responsible for:

  • Reports to the Operations Supervisor and is responsible for the maintenance of mechanical equipment in the RNG plant, landfill gas collection and control systems (GCCS), associated gas processing equipment, and pipelines.

  • Responsibilities include seeing to the maintenance and replacement of operational equipment, optimizing processes, managing inventory, and ensuring the correct ordering of supplies

Additional Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Operation and maintenance activities may include (but are not limited to):

  • Installing mechanical components

  • Lubricating mechanical systems

  • Tracking and reporting on operational performance

  • Interacting with customers and suppliers

  • Conducting job safety analysis

  • Documenting maintenance procedures

  • Exercising equipment

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment failures as necessary.

  • Formulate maintenance procedures for mechanical operations.

  • Participate in meetings and conference calls as requested to support operations.

  • Evaluate operational systems for improvement.

  • Assessing the condition of operational equipment, performing the required maintenance based on company standards and original manufacturer's specifications.

  • Takes callouts and responds in a timely manner.

  • Assist specialists with the repair, maintenance, rebuilding and installation of equipment and machinery in the facility.

  • Ensures that the product and gas meets the requirement and specs of the customer.

  • Completes appropriate documentation and paperwork for all activities performed.

  • Housekeeping and other miscellaneous duties as required.

Position Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

• High School degree or equivalent. • 1 year experience in landfill gas processing, chemical plant operations, industrial gas operations, or power plant operations. • Follows company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements Qualifications:

• Good verbal and written communication skills. • Can effectively use Microsoft Office Applications and computer based company systems. • Ability to effectively present information in a one–on-one and small group situation to other employees of the company and outside contractors. • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, decimals). • Apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues. • Be able to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions.

Job Specific Competencies:

Mechanical skills required with multi-skilled background preferred. Customer focus, drive for Quality and Results Ethics, Integrity and Character Understanding of process control systems as applied to landfill gas collection and processing. Technical / Troubleshooting skills with ability to read and understand complex technical manuals and schematics.

Certifications, licenses, registrations:

  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
