Amergis Preschool Intervention Specialist/ Special Educational Teacher in Sidney, Ohio

The Early Intervention Specialist provides services to children with a variety of developmental disabilities or delays. The Early Intervention Specialist works with children in a variety of settings to help implement personalized focused treatment programs to increase positive outcomes and independence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supports children and their families with developmental disabilities, mental health or behavioral disorders, etc.

  • Conducts referrals, intakes, and screening related activities

  • Carries out therapist-prescribed interventions

  • Assists with physical and motor skills development

  • Assesses delays with cognitive, adaptive, social/ emotional skills and communication skills

  • Provides administration and scoring of development using appropriate assessment tools

  • Provides service coordination activities

  • Works in conjunction with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement goals and objectives

  • Participates in evaluation/assessment process as applicable

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from accredited university preferred

  • Valid state teaching certificate or early childhood education as required by state regulations and/or contract

  • One year experience as an Early Intervention Specialist preferred

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency program when applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
