Town of Silver City Accounting Technician Payroll in Silver City, New Mexico

The Town of Silver City is accepting applications for the position of Accounting Technician-Payroll. Responsibilities include:

  • An emphasis in Payroll. Cross-training to include other areas ofaccounting such as grants, account payable, end-of-month and year balancing and reporting, andother tasks as assigned; preparation and submittal of reports as required by local, state, andfederal agencies, as well as other required internal and external reports.

Requirements include:

  • A valid NM Class D drivers license
  • bachelors degree in accounting is preferred or may besubstituted with four years experience in accounting related position
  • Two years in aresponsible fiscal position, preferably in municipal government, and emphasis in accounting andcomputers
  • Ability to prepare and understand financial reports accurately; strong interpersonalcommunication and computer skills required, to include Word, Excel, etc.
  • Knowledge of stateguidelines as they pertain to gross receipts tax, compensating tax, NTTCs, W-9s, 1099s, etc.
  • Preferred:ability to read and comprehend Town policies, procurement guidelines, etc.
  • Must befamiliar with the accounts payable process
  • Ability to pass drug and alcohol tests
