Job Title: Junior Property Accountant

Salary:$61,000 depending on experience and education.

Full Time position - 40 hours per week

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

The ideal candidate will havea degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field. With an Associates Degree, 2-3 years experience. With a Bachelor's Degree 1-2 years experience. Experience within the property management sector is a plus.

Leisure World of Maryland Corporation (LWMC), the property management company for Leisure World of Maryland, is a private, age-restricted community comprised of 29 community associations representing over 5,600 homes and extensive Trust operations, located in Silver Spring, Maryland is seeking an experienced Property Accountant to oversee the financial activities of some of the associations.

The Junior Property Accountant is responsible for performing accrual accounting procedures for assigned Associations.

We are looking for someone who has experience in the following areas:

  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare financial statements including monthly and annual accounts by performing such functions as maintaining general ledger, recording of deposits, and reviewing invoices ensuring that all disbursements are made in accordance with policies.
  • Ensuring the integrity of accounting information by recording, verifying, consolidating, and entering transactions.
  • Performing variance analyses and prepare account reconciliations.
  • Preparing and recording asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing account information.
  • Maintaining and balancing subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, and reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies.
  • Maintaining general ledger by transferring subsidiary accounts, preparing a trial balance, and reconciling entries.
  • Summarizing financial status by collecting information and preparing balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements.
  • Prepare for financial audit and coordinate the audit process including reconciliations, balanced reserve summaries, and reserve funding analysis.
  • Assisting with preparing and monitoring budgets.
  • Maintaining the general ledger and perform other accounting duties as assigned.

  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports and legal documents and to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Familiarity with accounting software and programs
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with community residents and outside organizations and agencies at various levels
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and auditing practices and principles
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 Suite of products including Excel and Word
