This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust. This position is for a Future New Business Opportunity.

Koniag IT Systems is seeking a Records Management Subject Matter Expert I to support our records management operations. This position requires a solid understanding of lifecycle records management processes, federal recordkeeping requirements, and electronic recordkeeping practices.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

The Records Management Subject Matter Expert I will play a critical role in our records management activities, leveraging their knowledge and experience to support various phases of the records management lifecycle. The primary responsibilities of this role include:

  • Conduct records inventories and outline file plans (taxonomies)

  • Assist in drafting records control schedules and ensuring compliance with federal recordkeeping requirements

  • Demonstrate a basic knowledge of electronic recordkeeping practices, such as email management, digital imaging, cloud storage, and social media

  • Support cross-functional teams and stakeholders by providing guidance and training on records management processes

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure adherence to records management policies and procedures

  • Contribute to projects and initiatives related to records management, including process improvements and implementation of best practices

Requirements

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Records Information Management, Library Science, or a related field

Work Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in records management or a related field

  • Understanding of lifecycle records management processes and federal recordkeeping requirements

  • Knowledge of conducting records inventories, outlining file plans (taxonomies), and drafting records control schedules

  • Basic understanding of electronic recordkeeping practices, including email management, digital imaging, cloud storage, and social media

  • Familiarity with federal recordkeeping requirements and regulations

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders

  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust

Desired Skills and Competencies:

  • Experience in a federal government or government contracting environment

  • Familiarity with records management software and systems (e.g., EDMS, RMS)

  • Knowledge of industry standards and best practices (e.g., ARMA, NARA)

  • Project management experience or certification (e.g., PMP)

  • Training or instructional experience in records management practices

  • Professional certification in records management (e.g., CRM, IGP)

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
