How you’ll contribute

Experienced and hands-on Project Manager, working alongside the Head of Program Management to manage complex clinical and R&D-related projects and timelines in a matrix environment, ensuring cross-functional teams take broad goals and align around program milestones. Ensure milestones are well communicated, tracked and met. Manage integrated teams to plan, execute, control, report and close-out all program related work across all functions. Monitor completion of deadlines for each project team and make adjustments as necessary. Develop and maintain the Project Management Plan as well as manage program timelines and key milestones and transmit project/study metrics to senior management. This is a hybrid position with 3 days/week onsite at our Silver Spring, MD office and 2 days/week work from home.

  • Develop and execute high quality, integrated cross-functional plans for the programs/projects/studies they oversee

  • Participate in or oversee project/study team meetings as applicable and ensure meeting minutes are finalized and filed and information is communicated to the larger team as appropriate

  • Manage cross-functional development/project teams, as assigned, by overseeing deliverables to support program objectives

  • Schedule and conduct necessary meetings related to the project, ensuring assignments are communicated and executed

  • Identify potential project risks; escalate critical problems and proactively develop mitigation plans/solutions with appropriate communication/involvement of all stakeholders

  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with Head of Program Management, UB/project team leadership, and cross-functional teams

  • Establish and maintain metrics to evaluate project goals and conduct analysis to detect and review trends

  • May assist with training/mentoring of junior staff, as applicable

  • Keep current with industry trends to ensure best industry practices and high-quality project management

  • Proactively assess and implement process improvements and efficiencies

  • Perform other duties as assigned

For this role you will need

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant business and/or scientific discipline (life sciences preferred)

  • 5+ years of clinical project management experience in the pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical research organization industry

  • Deep understanding and discipline in the application of project management protocols

  • Advanced knowledge of all phases of drug development, of the functions and processes relevant to drug development, and project management principles applicable to the biopharmaceutical environment

  • Strong background in GxPs and ICH requirements

  • Comfortable navigating and managing through ambiguity

  • Strong leadership, management, and coaching skills with the ability to monitor and delegate the work others

  • Superb communication (written & verbal), presentation and interpersonal skills to effectively lead cross-functional teams while maximizing teamwork and synergy

  • Commitment to the creation of a collaborative and supportive work environment with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to effectively present information to senior management and to cross functional teams

  • Computer literate with experience in Microsoft Software suite and other relevant packages

  • Proficient in Microsoft Project and/or Smartsheet

  • Travel up to 10%

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in clinical development and late phase drug development

  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)-PMI

  • Excellent cross-functional negotiating skills and the ability to effectively influence key stakeholders outside of the team

The salary for this position ranges from $112,000 to $140,000 per year. In addition, this role is eligible for the Company’s short-term and long-term incentive programs. The salary range is the range United Therapeutics Corporation in good faith believes is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting depending on the candidate’s experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other factors permitted by law.
