Job Title: Diesel Technician

Job Description

As a Diesel Technician, you will perform tasks ranging from basic preventative maintenance to complex repairs and extensive troubleshooting on a variety of equipment. The company offers training courses and opportunities to earn certificates for performing warranty work. A positive attitude and willingness to learn are highly valued, even if you lack extensive experience.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair all types of trucks.

• Repair and troubleshoot engines including Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, and MTU.

• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all heavy-duty components.

• Maintain a positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department, and customers.

• Keep paperwork updated and submit upon completion.

• Meet requirements for certifications.

• Perform administrative duties related to the position.

Essential Skills

• 1 to 3 years of mechanic experience or completion of vocational schooling in a related field.

• Ability to provide own basic tools.

• Clean driving record for the past 7 years.

• Experience with diesel engines is a plus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Freightliner, Detroit Diesel, ASE certification.

• Ability to perform tasks that involve standing, lifting, and using computers.

Work Environment

The work environment is supportive of learning and growth, with managers valuing employees who are eager to learn new things and maintain consistent attendance. First shift hours start as early as 6am with flexible scheduling as long as work is completed. The second shift runs from 3pm to 12am, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime on Saturdays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
