Position Summary Information

Position Summary

Full-time tenure track Assistant Professor in the Recreational Therapy Program will be responsible for teaching 4 courses each semester face to face that focus on interventions, facilitation techniques, and mental/physical health. The faculty member will also advise students, as well as pursue professional development and service. The candidate for the position must have the ability to establish an active research program, with a commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research.

The Recreational Therapy Program is strategically located within the newly created College of Health Professions, which offers an excellent education for students seeking to enter the health and/or mental health fields. We seek to engage students in interdisciplinary research and provide leadership opportunities to enable them to develop their skills. Minimum Qualifications

-Doctorate In Recreational Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation

OR Doctorate in related field

with a minimum of a Masters level degree in Recreational Therapy or Therapeutic Recreation.

-Doctorate must be completed by time of employment

-Current Certification as Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist ( CTRS )

Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to the education of diverse populations.

Successful performance in an on-campus interview including teaching demonstration also required.

Preferred Qualifications

At least one year full-time teaching experience in higher education

Ability to establish an active research program with commitment to mentoring undergraduate students in research.

Research publications in the field of Recreational Therapy/Therapeutic Recreation
