3rdGrade Elementary - Substitute Teacher

November 2024- December or longer

LOCATION: Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Grade 3

SALARY/PAY SCALE: $135 per day. If it is 20 weeks or more of continuous work in this position, the pay becomes step 1 in the teachers' contract

POSITION SUMMARY/PURPOSE:Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District is looking for a substitute to cover a maternity leave that will begin sometime in November. The length of the leave is unknown but will be a minimum of six weeks. The successful candidate will have three days to shadow the teacher going out on leave.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SKILLS:

The successful candidate will:

• Possess strong classroom management and organizational skills

• Be able to communicate with educational stakeholders effectively

• Be responsible for teaching all academic areas in an elementary classroom setting

• Possess a strong background and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, including intervention strategies and strategies to support diverse learning needs

• Ability to plan for and implement engaging and hands-on lessons

• Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, students, and administrators

REQUIREMENTS:

New York State Certification in Elementary Education required

Experience as an elementary classroom teacher preferred
