School Social Worker Substitute

Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, grades 3-5

Location: Woodrow Wilson Elementary School, Cheektowaga-Sloan Union Free School District

Salary/Pay Scale: $125-135 per day

Position Summary/Purpose:

There is an opening for a school social worker substitute at Woodrow Wilson Elementary School.

Requirements & Qualifications:

• NYSED Certification in school social work required

• Provide group counseling to IEP students and attend CSE meetings for those students

• Provide individual/group counseling to help students cope with personal and developmental issues that affect their school performance, behavior, and socialization

• Act as school liaison to The Department of Social Services (CPS) worker assigned to the Cheektowaga-Sloan School District

• Communicate and interact with administrators, teachers, and parents regarding student progress and related issues facing an individual student, group, or district

• Respond to and intervene in student behavioral crises

• Have a strong background and knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice, including intervention strategies

• Act as parent/faculty/staff resource to community services, including Family Solutions Center

• Serve on various school committees such as Lighthouse-Leader in Me, Child Study Team, Dignity Act-DASA District Committee, and Woodrow Wilson Behavioral Committee

• Maintain records/IEP progress reports and counseling summaries

• Others duties as assigned by supervisor
