Army National Guard Units SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR in Somerset, New Jersey

Summary This National Guard position is for a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, Position Description Number D1291000 and is part of the NJ FMS 8, National Guard. The purpose of this position is to supervise workers directly or through subordinate leaders and/or supervisors in accomplishing work of the function. Responsibilities As a SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR, WS-5801-11, you will: Plan use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assign tasks to be performed based on readiness and explain work requirements, methods, and procedures. Develop, publish, and ensure employee compliance with standing operating procedures. Manage maintenance backlog through coordination with other maintenance activities. Determine training needs of subordinates and arranges for accomplishment. Set performance standards, and make formal appraisals of subordinate work performance. (Guidance established by NJ HRO-J1) Areas of Consideration: Areas I: All current, permanent T32 technicians within the New Jersey Army National Guard Military Grades: E-7 to E-8 Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which demonstrates knowledge of equipment to be able to do routine jobs, simple preventative maintenance tasks, and is able to use common tools and equipment in the line of work. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least 36 months of experience which demonstrates the ability to: Direct and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel. Require the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines. Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month basis. Assists the supervisor with quarterly funding distribution and decisions, based on operational needs for units supported by customer activities. Demonstrate the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes. Implements corrective actions within authority to resolve work problems.
