The Assisted PD Support Worker under the direction of licensed personnel, implements, monitors and documents patient care based on established criteria.
Schedule : Per-Diem
Compensation : $20 per hour
Responsibilities
What You Can Expect:
Work with Home Dialysis Registered Nurses in commitment to good nursing care of Peritoneal Dialysis (PD) patients by providing assistance in PD to patients in their homes.
Maintain professional working relationship with the patients and the home dialysis nurses, observing patients’ rights at all times.
Meticulous in documenting patient and treatment information in the Worklog. Submitting Worklog to home dialysis nurse on a regular basis.
Determine patient care priorities and organizes work load efficiently and effectively
Can verbalize and understand terminology related to dialysis and the dialysis patient.
Deliver prescribed dialysis treatment according to physician orders and nursing assessment
Able to recognize and communicate problems during treatment setup and takedown to home dialysis nurse.
Able to calculate weight loss needed for patient to reach desired dry weight.
Relay equipment malfunctions or delivery issues to home dialysis nurse promptly.
Ability to understand and apply as it pertains to the patient care: Aseptic Technique, Catheter Care, Continuous Ambulatory Peritoneal Dialysis (CAPD) Exchange Process, Continuous Cycling Peritoneal Dialysis (CCPD), Fluid Management, Peritonitis, Problem Solving, PD Emergencies, Medications, Home Records, Patient Compliance, and PD Program.

Education/Training:
Desired minimum education is a high school diploma.
Healthcare experience preferred but not required.
Will train the right candidate.
Must have reliable vehicle with clean driving record.
