Are you ready to lead and make a significant impact in a dynamic and growing company??Comfort Systems USA MidAtlantic, LLC, a premier provider of HVAC, mechanical, and plumbing building systems, is searching for an experienced Controller to join our team.This position is responsible for directing, coordinating, maintaining, and controlling an accounting system that properly reflects the financial position of a publicly traded subcontractor providing services in Virginiaand various other states. The successful candidate will provide leadership and coordination of company financial planning and budget management functions and ensure that the company accounting procedures and reporting conform to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles while maintaining appropriate internal controls.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead with Vision:Oversee daily accounting operations and drive efficiency improvements.
  • Strategic Planning:Be a senior partner in strategic initiatives and new projects.
  • Financial Mastery:Prepare, maintain, and report comprehensive financial records and analyses.
  • Project Analysis:Analyze percentage of completion reports to keep projects on track.
  • Relationship Building:Establish and nurture strong business relations with vendors, auditors, regulators, and internal teams.
  • Cash Flow Management:Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, billing, and cash flow.
  • Collaborate:Maintain seamless communication and coordination with the corporate accounting team.
  • Performance Metrics:Recommend benchmarks to measure the companys financial and operational performance.
  • Strategic Support:Prepare financial analyses for contract negotiations and capital investment decisions.
  • Business Planning:Work with senior leadership and division managers to develop robust business plans.
  • Goal Setting:Assist in setting and achieving departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Audit Coordination:Lead financial audits and recommend procedural improvements.
  • Growth Support:Support the accounting department and the expanding needs of a mid-size subcontractor.

Who You Are:

  • Educational Background:Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
  • Experienced Professional:5+ years in mid to senior-level accounting roles.
  • Public Company Savvy:Experience with publicly traded companies (preferred).
  • Accounting Proficiency:Knowledge of General Ledger, Job Cost, and Percentage of Completion Accounting (preferred).
  • Financial Expertise:Deep understanding of GAAP, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  • Tech-Savvy:Familiar with automated financial reporting systems, preferred experience in COINS.
  • Regulatory Knowledge:Up-to-date with federal and state financial regulations.
  • Analytical Mind:Strong ability to analyze financial data and prepare detailed reports, statements, and projections.
  • Organized and Detail-Oriented:Excellent prioritization and problem-solving skills.
