Parametrix Senior Fisheries Biologist in South Hill, Washington
Parametrix, a premier engineering, planning, and environmental sciences consulting firm, is seeking a Senior Fisheries Biologist to join our Puget Sound Organization. This position is part of the Environmental Planning & Compliance team and provides fisheries knowledge for fish passage and restoration, surface water planning, and transportation projects. This role requires a demonstrated expert knowledge of ESA compliance; federal, state and local permitting; NEPA/SEPA impact assessment; and stream habitat assessments. You will also play a key role in our Salmon Recovery initiative, helping to grow our business in fish passage barrier removal, stream restoration, and habitat mitigation. We envision this position as a blend of technical work, project management, and business development. Emphasis will be on building and strengthening our strong practice in ESA and regulatory compliance as well as identifying areas to expand our service offerings. The position may require work in locations throughout the Western US, plus the ability to travel to work sites, manage and conduct fieldwork, and work independently. Who you are: Experienced: Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Fisheries Biology or a related field with 10+ years of demonstrated experience in the Pacific Northwest, focused on fisheries. Consulting experience or direct interaction with consulting teams is required. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of policy, regulations, and current status of Puget Sound/Pacific Northwest salmon recovery efforts, as well as relationships with clients involved in those efforts. Collaborator: We are seeking highly motivated candidates with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, agency staff, and colleagues. Strong skills in technical writing, interpersonal and oral communication, and computer software are required. Base salary for this position is in the range of $100,000-$130,000+. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, location, and role. For all positions we conduct an equity review.
