Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly closing process and related reporting. The Staff Accountant will prepare and maintain financial records to track DRC assets, liabilities, profit and loss, and other related financial activities accurately and timely.

Essential Functions:

  1. Prepare journal entries in accordance to GAAP as part of the closing function.

  2. Maintains systems for accounting and control.

  3. Assists with the month-end closing.

  4. Organize, update, and compile financial reports.

  5. Performs general accounting and other related duties for the organization.

  6. Resolves daily interface exceptions.

  7. Reconcile accounts assigned on a timely basis.

  8. Track both the supplier payables and customer receivables for the company by performing any necessary data entry and report generation, and preparing monthly reports on the status of accounts while maintaining an accurate day-to-day ledger.

  9. Verifies and confirms payment of assign prepaid invoices associated with insurance and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts and reconciled at month-end.

  10. Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform the annual audit.

  11. Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.

  12. Post daily sales and monthly cost of sales on select markets.

Other tasks:

Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

Participates in special projects as needed.

Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field, preferred.

· A minimum of three years’ prior accounting experience working with an automated general ledger/business enterprise system is required.

· Strong Excel skills

· Knowledge of GAAP

· Investigative technique, problem-solving and analytical skills

· Commitment to maintaining systems for accounting control.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Intermediate to advanced MS Excel skills.

· Organizational and follow-up skills.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Education:

An Associates’ Degree in Accounting or Business Administration or a related field is required.

Certification:

None required.

Contact:

There is frequent telephone communication with DRC staff across the footprint and liquid suppliers.

Decisions made:

The Staff Accountant will make routine decisions regarding supplier payable reconciliations and other accounting related items

Safety Considerations:

Safety considerations relate to proper ergonomics in an office setting including appropriate workstation and computer terminal setup. Safe and appropriate use of electronic equipment is expected.

Equipment Used:

Equipment used in this position includes a calculator, networked personal computer, printers, photocopiers, telephone and FAX machine.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in an office setting with controlled temperature and lighting. Infrequent travel is required.

Physical Requirements Analysis:

This position requires frequent sitting, standing and walking; visual acuity; frequent use of fingers to write, type and handle paperwork; frequent communication involving listening and speaking.

Weight Or Force Moved:

There is occasional need to lift or move objects weighing more than 5 pounds such as computer reports and file boxes. Assistance is available for lifting heavier objects.
