Job Title: Embedded Software Engineer

Job Description

We're seeking an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join our team, driving innovation and excellence in instrument control software and embedded systems development. In this role, you'll work on products from various fields, including DNA sequencing, Rapid DNA analysis, qPCR, and digital PCR, as part of a multi-functional team comprising firmware and instrument control engineers. Your primary responsibilities will involve developing firmware for electronics and instrument control, translating manual customer processes into highly integrated and automated instrument architectures, and supporting and improving on-market instrument platforms to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

• Develop instrument software based on requirements and build, install, and troubleshoot software on instruments or single-board controllers

• Create, install, or modify drivers for proper operation of instrument components

• Understand communication between Android OS and drivers (e.g., USB, display) and have the ability to port existing software to new Android-based hardware

• Troubleshoot new and existing designs, and make data-driven decisions using rational design processes

• Develop test plans, test procedures, test fixtures, and prepare test reports

• Manage development issue tracking and builds in the repository

Hard Skills

  • Programming skills in C, C++, and Python

  • Understand communication between Android OS and drivers (e.g., USB, display) and have the ability to port existing software to new Android-based hardware

  • Firmware and Instrument Control Systems Development for Commercial Products

  • Knowledge of Object-based Development and UML

Soft Skills

  • Proven track record of taking ownership of responsibilities

Job Type

This is a contract position with a duration of 12 Month(s).

Work Site

This is a hybrid position requiring some days on-site in South San Francisco, California and some days remote.
