Robert Half Payroll Manager in South San Francisco, California

Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Payroll Manager in South San Francisco, California. The role is a pivotal part of our Finance team, primarily responsible for managing payroll operations, ensuring compliance with tax processes, and maintaining effective relationships with vendors and partners.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee the payroll operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing

• Act as the subject matter expert for payroll, addressing escalations, approvals, and issue resolution

• Liaise with vendors for payroll processing and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and annual activities

• Prepare, review, and process data files for each payroll cycle and corresponding journal entries

• Handle tax-related tasks such as managing tax notices, registrations, wage orders, government correspondences, and audit support

• Offer superior customer service to all end-users, addressing system use, function, issues, and questions

• Troubleshoot the payroll system and vendor interface files for any issues and take corrective action

• Collaborate with Accounting, HR, and Finance departments for policy, project, and operational support

• Assist with vendor and stakeholder management, providing requested statistical and financial payroll reports, data, or estimates

• Facilitate year-end and annual audits, reporting, and ad hoc analyses

• Support the Finance team with additional responsibilities as necessary, including data analysis and reporting needs. Requirements • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Payroll Manager or similar role

• Proficiency in UKG Pro payroll software

• Comprehensive knowledge of California Labor Law

• Experience in Full Cycle Payroll

• Familiarity with Multi-state Payroll

• Ability to manage Payroll for 101 - 500 Employees

• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is required

• Proven experience in Payroll Management

• Ability to Process Bi-weekly Payroll

• Experience in dealing with Payroll Vendors

• Proficiency in Reconciling Payroll
