Job Description

Scientist II, Chemistry

As a Scientist II in our manufacturing department located in South San Francisco, you will have the opportunity to be part of a dynamic and ambitious team. In this role, you will play a crucial role in completing laboratory procedures, conducting assays, and maintaining equipment to ensure on-time delivery of high-volume products. Your outstanding analytical skills will be instrumental in driving troubleshooting activities and implementing solutions in a timely manner.

Your responsibilities will include:

Complete complex laboratory procedures, assays, and equipment maintenance as per specific SOPs and batch records

Independently analyze data, document findings, and write SOPs to achieve desired results

Actively participate in troubleshooting activities using techniques such as fishbone diagrams and statistical analysis

Co-develop and lead new analytical tools and assays

Learn and understand Ion Torrent product platforms for effective operation and troubleshooting

Interact and collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive vital projects

Independently drive process optimizations and scale-up efforts

Skills:

Good lab technique and attention to detail

Fundamental understanding of organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, process development and/or nucleic acid chemistry experience

Experience operating high-end analytical instrumentation beneficial

Experience with process and assay validation

Design and execute experiments supporting research and development projects

Excellent written and oral communication skills

Experience in presenting data to cross-functional groups

Familiarity with statistical analysis tools

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite applications

Prior experience working in a clean room or in manufacturing is helpful

Minimum Education and Experience Requirement:

Master's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field of study AND 1+ year of proven experience will be considered.

Alternative Education and Experience Requirement:

Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, or related field of study AND a proven track record of 3+ years.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $79,200.00–$118,800.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
