As an Early Learning Corps Interventionist you'll spend your days helping children ages 3-5 to talk, read, write, sing and play in order to develop early literacy and numeracy skills and get ready for Kindergarten. Serving in one classroom, you'll work closely with a teacher to enhance daily literacy and numeracy activities and help students build both skills and confidence. Schedule: 30 hours per week. 7.5 service hours per day. Requires 4 days per week (M-Thu) and 1 Friday half day per month. Position starts 8/26/2024 and ends 5/31/2025.

Compensation/Benefits:  living stipend of $888.25 biweekly (totaling $1,776.50 per month), education award of up to $3,697.50 that can be used to repay federal student loans or future education expenses; federal student loan forbearance. Health insurance and childcare assistance is available for full-time interventionists. Interventionists who serve the duration of the school year may elect to complete their Child Development Associate (CDA) credential. Michigan Education Corps AmeriCorps members also have access to the Member Support Fund (up to $500 for emergency /unexpected expenses), affinity groups and workforce development/career pathway groups.

Minimum qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older by your start date.

Must have at least a high school diploma or recognized equivalent by your start date.

Must be either a citizen, national, or lawful permanent resident alien of the United States.

Must pass mandatory pre-service background checks.

Must not have served 4 or more prior terms of service with AmeriCorps State or National.
